Double redirections

Actually I know a script which can purge the 728 double redirections of this site in 15 Min. If nobody tries it today, I'll clean them in 24h. JackPotte 02:43, 10 август 2010 (UTC)

Bgbot did the greatest part of them, and there isn't any lemma toward which redirect them. So I can't do more... The 3 admins are away for many months. JackPotte 23:04, 10 август 2010 (UTC)

Redirect pages

Is there a need for so many redirect pages? As of June 2015, there are about 27,000 entries but almost 800,000 redirect pages in the main namespace. Please clean up this wiki by removing all these unnecessary redirects, thank you! --Hydriz (беседа) 05:08, 22 юни 2015 (UTC)

I'm afraid the BG Wiktionary is mostly abandoned and we've yet to decide what to do with the project as a whole. Thanks for raising this otherwise good point. — Luchesar • Б/П 15:55, 24 февруари 2016 (UTC)

Checking files and GFDL

Hello! All files need a valid license and also a source and author. Any files without a license etc. should be deleted. For example Файл:Праскови плод.png does not have a license.

GFDL should not have disclaimers per w:en:Wikipedia:GFDL standardization. But only the copyright holder can remove them. Most/all the files were uploaded by Потребител:Челибакът which is no longer active.

Per Специални:Статистика there are 22 files on bg.wiktionary. I think that all files should be checked and if there is no clear license, source and author then the files should be deleted.

For example Файл:Ножица.png have a license (GFDL) but it is not clear if the uploader is the photographer/author.

If there are any files left after that I think that Template:GFDL should be renamed to Template:GFDL-with-disclaimers so the name match en:Template:GFDL-with-disclaimers.

If uploader is/were active there should be created a new Template:GFDL without disclaimers so that uploader could use that and remove the disclaimers. MGA73 (беседа) 13:50, 27 юни 2024 (UTC)

MGA73, sorry to react only now; I've been struggling to find time for Wikipedia recently. And thank you very much for noticing the problem and taking the time to describe it. I took a cursory look at the photos when you first wrote, and my impression was that we might better just delete all of them. The images are fairly small and missing any meaningful metadata, which makes the determination of their authorship quite difficult. They don't seem quite valuable either; all of these should be available in much better quality from Commons for illustrative purposes. But I wanted to find more time to review them more carefully.

I'll be without reliable (or any) internet access in the next 2-3 days, but I'll take a look at them after that, likely by the end of the week. In the meantime, Ted, if you have an opinion (or even more so if you'd like to take action), I'd appreciate hearing it.

Sorry for my delayed response. I'm also not very active in the last few months. Even to this day I'm not that familiar with the authorship and licence policies in Wikipedia, so I'm the last person someone should aks for opinion/advice on this matter. :-)

Anyway, I think all those images could be deleted. They seem to be of medium to low quality. And there are better alternatives from Commons. For illustrative purposes, where possible, deleted images could/should be replaced with ones already available from Commons. --Ted Masters (беседа) 11:14, 3 юли 2024 (UTC)

I completely understand your concerns too, but I think this situation is more about general housekeeping—deciding whether we want any images uploaded locally to the Bulgarian Wiktionary—rather than focusing solely on copyright and licensing issues.

Hi Ted Masters! The formal policy is here: wmf:Resolution:Licensing_policy. But in short all files should:

1. Provide a source. That could either be an URL or a statement like "I took this photograph."
2. Provide an author. That could either be the username if the uploader is the photographer or the name of the user on Flickr or Wikipedia if the photo is copied from somewhere else.
3. Provide a license. The photographer have the copyright so it is not possible for Wikipedia to use the photo unless the photographer release it under a free license. A free license could be GFDL (once the most used) or even better a creative commons license (for example Cc-by-sa-4.0)

Both GFDL and CC-licenses require that we give credit to the author so we need to know who that is. --MGA73 (беседа) 11:50, 3 юли 2024 (UTC)
